Finally, it happened!
It was Tuesday(Aug 2, 2K11) morning. The noises(filled with excitement as well as nervousness) from my brother's room woke me up. I got up from the bed and went to his room.
Oh my God! ... few things were scattered on the carpet while the others were peeping out from the suitcases and few others from his cupboard. Oh yes! he was supposed to catch a flight (whose departure was at 11:25 p.m the same night) . So, he had to report at 8:30 p.m at the airport and obviously, we all were struck in doing the last minute preparations. A couple of hours later, everything settled and we were supposed to get the bags and suitcases, weighed.
Well well well... it wasn't a surprise to find that the luggage was definitely overweight. It was 4 p.m. now when all of us started removing the unnecessary things which took us another couple of hours. The clock was undoubtedly moving faster now. The time flew in blink of an eye. Finally we all left at 7 p. m.
We reached the airport at 7:5o p.m. While we were on our way, my brother was busy in saying " thank you's " to the numerous " Best Wishes Calls " from relatives and friends. And it was the time to say "goodbye". As he entered through Gate number 2, he started walking towards the end of Gate number 5, we followed him, walking parallel outside(visitors or rather people other than their customers), where he stood in the queue to get his luggage weighed. We were moving by a few centimeters to catch his glimpse then, as he was moving forward with the queue. After about 20 minutes he went inside and now, was out of our sight. We saw people hugging, kissing, exchanging "miss u yaar" talks, a few of them crying as well. Even I could feel my eyes being filled up with tears. But, I controlled my emotions because if I wouldn't have controlled then, I wouldn't have been able to control later as well.
Ah! we found a vacant bench. We checked the departure time again on the screen. It flashed 11:25 p.m. Singapore Airlines H (block)
Brother called and told us that he has been declared clear and can board his flight. And, we left for home.
After reaching at 10 p.m., we had dinner and watched TV. One of my cousins paid a visit as my grandmother was alone at home. We had a "gupshup" (chitchat) session for about an hour or so. when "he" called up to inform that he had boarded the flight and was now switching off his cell phone. Mumma gave him numerous instructions and we all did the same as per our turn of talking to him. Finally, we exchanged final goodbyes for one-and-a-half days.
One-and-a-half days later, we got a call from him, informing us that he had reached safe and sound. Phew... this Tuesday is the longest day of my life and the most memorable one as well. Lifting 23+ Kg suitcases isn't a joke after all.
